About

Autism.   My son has this condition that is sadly affecting more and more children every year.  Many parents are given a diagnosis, without any hope.  But many parents around the world who, like me, have been researching for many years have found that there is hope.  I believe that autism, aught not to exist.  On my quest of over a decade, I have found many things in my sons body that cause his behaviours from food and chemical sensitivities, mosquito bites, lack of certain types of fibre, high histamine, low vitamins and minerals, high levels of heavy metals, antibodies to strep and a faulty gene.  The list goes on.  There are many reasons to be positive, and I am getting to them one post at a time.  If your child, or a child that you know has autism, please know, there certainly is hope.

  1. Is there a way to contact you? Our daughter we suspect has histamine issues. I would like some info on brands you use?

    1. Hi Anthony, at the moment the supplements Fraser is on are as follows : Neuroprotek which lowers histamine in the brain, he has only one per day (spread on his peanut butter toast), some people give more, but I find we get a good balance with just one per day. I order this direct from Algonot as I am in Australia, but I believe you can order it from Amazon if you are in the US. I also give him and Australian brand of Calcium/Magnesium called Blackmores. It is a practitioner only product as it has a higher dose than you could get from a pharmacy. Thorne are one of my favourite brands…they are more expensive but incredible quality so it may be worth looking at one of their calc/mag products. I give the cal/mag at night before bed (in peanut butter with his melatonin) as it calms him as well as lowers histamine. As for Vitamin C, at the moment I am using Nutribiotic Calcium Ascorbate in crystal/powder from. He drinks this mixed in water, but you could add a little cordial. The calcium ascorbate is more gentle on the tummy than the ascorbic acid form. Now Foods also have calcium ascorbate. He is also on Culterelle probiotics. I have not been able to determine the effect of this on histamine, except to say that from my own observations, it does not seem to raise histamine. He has one of these (again on peanut butter toast) in the morning. I order most of my supplements from iherb or occasionally, Kosher Vitamins. Both have fantastic products and cheap reliable postage. I hope that helps. Don’t hesitate to contact me again if I can help out further. Warm regards, Kitty.

  2. Hi, have you considered an orthomolecular approach, where low histamine indicates undermethylation, so methylcobalamin, DMG, TMG, SAM-e, might be helpful? Carl Pfeiffer and William Walsh were at the origin of orthomolecular medicine. It’s been hugely helpful for us–we are on the opposite side, overmethylation. Thank you for listing the probiotic strains for various levels of histamine.

    1. Hi Pauline, thanks for your comment. I have done a lot research on undermethylation and I have a post called ‘You MTHFR’ which is about the gene link to it if you are interested. Glad you found the probiotic list helpful. 🙂

      1. Thanks, we are overmethylators, but I will take a look at your article if I can find it.
Anthony William makes a link between Epstein-Barr and methylation. Also there is research that suggests that childhood sexual abuse can also cause changes in methylation. Methylation status can be used as a biomarkers to determine suicidal ideation, attempts at suicide, probability of attempting suicide. And NASA is about to publish a paper on methylation changes in space and on return. You don’t need to publish this comment and I can look up references if needed, just sharing. Hope your voyage has been good for your family.
